Downhill Day at Brundage & Ribbon Cutting of B2BB

The time is finally here, it's time to officially release our newest trail, Brundage to Bear Basin and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

Did you know that this trail cost roughly $259,000!!! That's a lot of money!! Thankfully it was under the estimated cost ($292,000) and also thankfully we had some amazing support. Funding sources included:

  • One Track Mind Foundation

  • Albertson's Foundation

  • Recreational Trails Program Grant through Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation

  • IMBA Dig-In Grant

  • Idaho Community Grants

  • City of McCall Local Option Tax

  • Individual Donations

  • Several Large Donors & Receipts from past Idaho Gives Campaigns through CIMBA

  • YOU- your membership and involvement helped fund this trail!

We had professional crews from Dirt Candy Designs and Progressive Trail Designs help us build this trail. We also had the help from Brundage Mountain Resort Trail Crew, Montana Conservation Corps, and a lot of volunteer time to make this happen. One Track Mind paid for the final design work to be done and donated their mini excavator to the project for almost 2 months.

Construction started in mid June of 2022 and was finished Sept 10th, 2023. Volunteers have been BUSY getting this trail ready to ride, from trail work, installing signs, and a few minor repairs near the Ditch Witch connection.

This trail was a labor of love and a lot of money, but it's something we are so excited about. We appreciate your support in the trail work and memberships as that helps us raise grants and pay for new trails.

If you haven't had a chance to ride it please get out there and check it out. You can access the trail from the bottom of Ditch Witch (in Bear Basin) or off Forest Service Roads 452, 451, or 488, which are a great option on weekends when there is more downhill traffic on the trail. In total the trail is 6.2 miles and 1700 vert. It will be a multi-use and two-way trail, so be aware when you're ripping down the trail to always stay in control for any uphill traffic.

We will have an official release party and a downhill day at Brundage on Friday, July 7th, 2023. The details are:

  • Ribbon Cutting at 3 PM at Brundage Mountain Resort

  • FREE lift service from Brundage Mountain for CIMBA members from 12-5 PM on Friday the 7th.

    • So if you aren't a member or you need to renew, make sure to do so before July 7th. You can do so by clicking the button below.

  • CIMBA Trail Recap and Raffle at 5:30 PM

  • Brundage Mountain Concert Series at 6 PM - Pickpockets Band

  • **Self Shuttling is Required for the B2BB trail**

We hope to see you out there.

Thank you to everyone that has come out so far!

We've been having a lot of Trail Work days this year already and we have a few more planned. We try to post about these on our calendar and social media, so keep an eye out for those events and come on out if you can. You'll get a free trailcrew shirt and food after our work is done!  Special thanks to May Hardware for donating the grill that has already fed so many of you hard workers.

Kick-Off Party Recap

Thank you for joining us in May for our Kick-Off Party! It was so great to connect, get out for a gravel ride, drink some beer and send you home with cool prizes. As a recap we raised $1281 in funds for CIMBA from raffle sales and Broken Horn Brewing donating money for each pint sold that day. Thank you so much for this support and involvement!

Sponsor Spotlight- Check it Out!

Plain and simple, One Track Mind Foundation (OTM), funds mountain bike trail building and maintenance across the United States. Umm, yes please!

OTM has been so instrumental in a lot of our trails in Central Idaho! They have provided the majority of the funding for the single tracks on the West Side of the Payette Lake Trail and has also paid for design on the East Side. As mentioned above they have also paid for the final design work on the B2BB trail and donated their mini excavator to the project. Besides their involvement in our local trials, they have also worked with MTB groups on projects in Minnesota, Colorado, and California.

Thank you OTM for being a huge supporter of biking in Central Idaho!

Upcoming Events:

Mark your calendars for these exciting events we have planned:

  • Grom Series

    • Let's get our kiddos out together on the trails! From pump tracks to easy single track we want to get the young ones out on the dirt this summer.

    • Diane Sanders will be leading these "rides". A parent will need to attend with their kid and bring their own bikes and gears. We'll meet at various pump tracks and/or trails throughout the area to encourage our young riders to have fun and learn the sport of mountain biking we all love so much.

    • Keep an eye on social media for weekly dates and locations.

    • Tonight, June 28th we'll be meeting at 6 PM at the Bear Basin parking lot.

  • Bike N' BBQ

    • Wow!! Double Wow!! We loved the turnout we had at our first event this month at Bear Basin. Thank you for showing up and making it such a fun day.

    • The next one is our Brundage to Bear Basin trail release party (details above).

    • August 12th: Tamarack Resort

      • Come and ride at Tamarack with CIMBA this day! More details to follow.

    • September Dates: TBD but we're working to plan something super fun! :)

  • Board Meetings

    • Summer is hard with schedules, but we are still working hard for CIMBA. We've postponed a lot of our board meetings to be virtual ones. We aren't meeting online, we're just chatting throughout the month with each other when we have questions. We'll keep you posted about these in case you do want to join any of our in-person meetings. And if you're interested in getting involved in CIMBA we would love the support and help! From behind the scenes admin work, to people willing to help with events, and more, we could use YOU if you're in a position to help out.

  • Keep an eye on social media and our calendar for more events.

  • And if you ever want to lead an event, please let us know! We have so many ideas of fun events to do but we don't have the manpower to make them all happen. So if you're interested in getting involved please reach out.
