CIMBA x Idaho Gives 2021
The snow is slowly giving way to our long lost dirt and we are looking forward to another great riding season in the McCall area! We thought we would take this time to update you on our trail project progress, as well as highlight some of our recent achievements and goals for 2021:
The proposed route on the Eastside of the Payette Lake Trail is finalized and will be submitted to the USFS and IDL this summer. We are hopeful that we can start applying for grants for this project next year.
We are helping fund 2 bike repair stations that will be installed later this year at local trailheads.
We are working with the USFS to complete 2 deferred maintenance projects on the south side of the Bear Pete Trail and the Jackson Creek Trail this summer.
In conjunction with the Payette Area Composite Bike Team, CIMBA and a local graduating senior teamed up to reroute and improve a section of the Payette Lake Trail last fall.
We will continue to work with partners and volunteers to have a more robust volunteer trail maintenance program starting in May. Check our calendar for upcoming dates and details as they become available.
We will be hosting a variety of no-drop group gravel and MTB rides this spring and summer.

CIMBA is currently undertaking its most ambitious trail project in the McCall Area, The Payette Lake Trail. The Payette Lake Trail is a new 33-mile loop around Payette Lake in McCall, ID. After years of planning and working on the permitting process, CIMBA finished the West side of the trail which opened 6 miles of new single track connected by 4 miles of double track. This also opens up several larger ride options beginning in McCall or at the Bear Basin parking area and connecting the trail system at Brundage Mountain Resort with Bear Basin, the Payette Rim Trail, and Warren Wagon Road to create a variety of loop, point to point or out and back options.
We also finalized the proposed route for the East side of the PLT. This was a challenging undertaking but when finished will offer up some very unique views and different riding zones. Our next step is to work with our local IDL office and the USFS to get the route approved so that we can put together a timetable for construction.
In addition, CIMBA would like to introduce the Brundage to Bear Basin Trail. we have been hatching plans to begin a new trail that will on the south end of Brundage Mountain Resort that will provide 8 miles of rolling, scenic singletrack to connect into the backside of the Bear Basin Trail system. After several discouraging setbacks and delays with the USFS, we look forward to building all 8 miles of this amazing new trail as soon as the snow melts in 2022. We already have a lot of financial support for this project from some amazing organizations but we are not fully funded yet, with your support, we can make this trail a reality.
CIMBA is taking on some very aggressive and expensive trail building projects to improve the McCall area mountain bike trails, with our partners, grant writing campaigns, and YOUR SUPPORT, we can make it happen. Our planning and scoping efforts represent hundreds of hours of volunteer time meeting with agencies, writing grants, fundraising, and ground-truthing new routes. Our trail gnomes have been busy and they need your help more than ever to continue providing maintenance and to keep pioneering new trails!
